Flowers have been a part of Suzi Batdorff’s life for as long as she can remember. Her mom Nancy owned and operated a flower shop in Big Rapids, Michigan. Growing up riding along on deliveries, learning the names of different flowers, and feeling the impact that a beautiful bouquet could have on someone’s day made a huge impact on her heart. Little did she know after losing her mom at a young age, she would eventually come to follow in her footsteps, with growing and sharing flowers becoming her life’s work. Before coming to farming full time, Suzi managed restaurants while spending her spare time helping plant and harvest at Viavi Flower Farm in Southwestern Michigan. She worked side by side with Wanda, her dear friend, second mom, and the original visionary of Viavi along with Jim and Mary Hood. Upon the untimely passing of Wanda, Suzi knew she would keep alive Nancy and Wanda’s legacies of honoring special moments and celebrations with beautiful flowers, and their warm spirit of loving the land where they’re grown.

While Suzi continues a successful local market presence, delivery subscription service, and heirloom flower farming operation on the original Viavi farmland, she has also taken the management skills she learned in the restaurant industry to create a thriving and growing delivery, wedding, and event business. Farming allows Suzi to use unique seasonal blooms to create her own design style. From planting seeds and bulbs, nurturing them, and harvesting at peak time for cut flower creations, each bloom is specifically grown to become part of her vision for an unforgettable wedding bouquet, delivery arrangement, or event installation. Through her farm to vase ethos honoring the simple and natural beauty of each stem, she continues the legacies of the women before her and is grateful to be able to share all of those special moments and celebrations with her customers.
